4. Description: Research services. This project will result in guidance material that can be used by OH providers and duty holders to support them in meeting the general medical requirements for safety critical workers outlined in standards and legislation, specifically those working for railway undertakings. This will improve the consistency and robustness of OH practitioners’ and duty holders’ assessments of fitness for duty, provide them with confidence that their decisions meet the requirements of the medical standards and have been carried out in a way that satisfies the ‘so far as reasonably practicable’ (SFAIRP) requirement of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 .
